Dream of a Decent Night’s Sleep?

Here are some great tips that may help you catch that ever-elusive “great night’s sleep.”

Be consistent. Go to bed at the same time each night and get up around the same time each morning, including weekends. Your subconscious craves consistency.

Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, relaxing, and a comfortable temperature (I sleep with my thermostat between 65 and 66, use blackout curtains and even earplugs) avoid large meals, caffeine, and alcohol before bedtime. Try to stop consuming everything but water a minimum of 2 hours prior to your target sleep time.

Get some exercise. Being physically active during the day can help you fall asleep more easily at night. Do 20 minutes of cardio sometime during the day, but not too close to bedtime. Don’t fight not being able to go back to sleep. If falling back asleep is not happening, get up and read a book for 20 minutes. It’s the perfect reset button.

Get a decent mattress. Remember, we spend 1/3 of our life sleeping. It’s vital to recharge our system. Choose a sleep set that supports your body without pressure points (good blood-flow equals cellular repair overnight.)

To help accomplish this goal, Murphy’s Furniture is having our bedroom sale now, and through the entire month of February! Our Murphy’s crew is here to help you get that better night’s sleep today. We are open 7 days a week, from 10 to 5, or call us at 503.640.1124
