It’s Time for a Spring Spruce-Up!

by | Apr 1, 2024

Spring is a perfect time to give your home a brightening up. Yes, spring spruce-up includes “traditional cleaning grinds.” Things like power washing the deck, washing your windows (don’t miss clearing window weep holes – these prevent water from seeping into the wood of the sill and causing wood to rot.) Remember to de-yuck those mini-blinds and deep clean the fridge.

Remember, no matter the weather, subtle changes can breathe fresh new life into your living spaces. I like to start with inspecting my lighting. Did you know, cool white lightbulbs (blue tones) resemble natural daylight? These bulbs are perfect for kitchens, bathrooms and work/live spaces. Warmer color lightbulbs are great for bedrooms. Spring is also a perfect opportunity to clean light fixtures and ceiling fans.

One thing that often gets overlooked is your furnace. Furnace and purifier filters should be changed every 4 to 6 months. This could be a big help in reducing allergens floating around. Make sure the cold air return or fresh air intake are unobstructed. Plus, change the battery on all smoke and co2 detectors. Might as well dust them off while you are up there.

Now that you have the hard stuff taken care of, zip on down to Murphy Furniture’s Spring Fling – it’s an awesome opportunity to save on all sofas, recliners, futons, mattresses and outdoor furniture – on now thru the end of March, showroom open 7 days a week, 10 to 5, or call 503.640.1124.
