Back to School Sale

Ready for Back to School?

by | Aug 21, 2023

We all know having a comfortable, designated workspace can help our young ones stay organized and be more successful in their studies. The question is, how do we do this?

Location, location, location – just like in business, where is often the most important question. Pick a spot with minimal distractions, uncluttered and well lit. These can be easily accomplished non-organically – Murphy’s has awesome desks, bookcases and lamps in stock and on sale.

Less is more – for some reason human nature makes decluttering ourselves feel like a punishment when it’s really an exercise in growth. Remove everything from your workspace, then add back only the things necessary for this school year. Label drawers, cubbies and shelves to make locating supplies non-disruptive to your child’s homework process. If you have school supplies that are no longer in your child’s age bracket contact Hillsboro Boys and Girls club (503-648-4558), Washington County Family Resource Center (503-844-1688), or the Washington County Farmworkers Association (503-681-9399) to re-purpose for those in need.

Paint to produce creativity – light blues reduce stress and light green emotes focus, while lighter neutrals make a space feel clean and more open.

To help in the right equipment department, Murphy’s Furniture is having their Back to School Sale on all desks, bookcases and other home office furniture during the entire month of August. Our friendly, helpful staff is ready, willing and able to help you solve all your study area conundrums!
