Before purchasing a new mattress set, take a minute to get a clear picture of what you want in your new mattress.
Assess your current mattress. What problem is your current mattress causing? Where are your pain/pressure points? Does your mattress sag? Often reinforcement of your bed frame or replacement of your foundation is also needed. Don’t put your wonderful new mattress on a sub-par base, this will void your new mattress warranty.
Choose your mattress size. If you share a bed with a partner or if your feet hang off the end of your bed, it may be time for a size upgrade.
Set your budget. It’s important to understand that mattresses vary in price because of what’s inside them. Decide how much you want to spend and focus your research on that price category. Remember, this is, on average, a ten-year investment in the quality of your night’s sleep.
Test drive all the mattresses. There’s no better way to shop for a mattress than to go to a store. Understanding the difference between mattresses means lying on each one in different positions
Slow down. Your body needs time to feel each mattress and compare it to the one you’re currently sleeping on. Eliminate the ones that don’t feel good and spend at least 15 minutes on the mattresses that do.
